His background

Andrew is a specialist divorce and family lawyer who advises exclusively on family law issues. Before establishing Harrogate Family Law, Andrew worked for many years as a family law solicitor in a large, award-winning national law firm. He now offers Harrogate Family Law clients the same high quality of advice and at a competitive price.

He was named as the region's leading matrimonial/family solicitor by the prestigious Chambers legal directory in its 2013 edition, having been described in its 2012 edition as "a key presence in the market" and a client commented that Andrew "excels in every aspect - he is sympathetic, clear and approachable".

Andrew was previously recognised as Yorkshire's up and coming family lawyer in Chambers' 2011 edition.

His approach

Andrew is the immediate past regional chairman of Resolution, which is the country's largest association of specialist family lawyers. Andrew's cases are normally settled on favourable terms without the need for court proceedings, but he is also experienced in those cases requiring litigation, for which he adopts a no-nonsense approach. He has represented clients in cases ranging from the Magistrates' Court up to the Court of Appeal.

Andrew is specially trained in Collaborative Family Law and committed to this new way of resolving family law issues such as divorce, separation and the arrangements for children.

Expertise

Resolution operates the most rigorous accreditation scheme so that the public can recognise those lawyers who are truly family law specialists. Andrew is the only solicitor in Harrogate accredited as a Resolution specialist in the maximum three specialist areas of family law. Andrew's three particular specialist areas are:

• complex divorce and finance cases
• emergency injunctions in financial and property matters
• domestic abuse

He is also now an assessor for the Resolution accreditation scheme.
